If youre going to work in automotive painting and auto detaining, here are three crucial tips to take into account.

    1. Who car detailers are and what they do
Car detailing includes the interior and exterior cleaning and detailing of engines, they are responsible for making minor repairs, removing swirls and defects, polishing, removing stains and grease car wash, vacuuming and shampooing upholstery, paint protection, buffing and waxing, and cleaning wheels. In addition to these duties and responsibilities, many technicians who begin a career in custom car detailing pursue automotive painting.

    2. Get yourself a basic education
While car detailing experts do not need to attend a full four year study at a university, it is important to enter the automotive career field with some official training. Many community colleges and technical, vocational schools offer two year degrees and certifications in automotive detailing. Some programs can be taken in less than three months and offer education on the fundamentals of chemical use, use of industry-specific tools and equipment, safety, education on complete engine and body detailing, and knowledge of how to price their services and helpful business practices.

    3. Improve and build upon that education
While it can be very tempting to simply finish the most basic of coursework and launch yourself in a car detailing job within half a year, persons wanting a more long-term career should consider continuing their education and possibly working as an apprentice. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest that persons who simply operate within the confines of car detailing make between $20,000 to $30,000 a year, whereas those skilled in automotive painting and employed as auto body and paint technicians can earn as much as $80,000 a year. Journeyman auto body and paint technicians build on the basics they learn as car detailers and add to this knowledge the ability to remove and install auto body panels, parts, and glass, the ability to completely prepare a vehicle for paint, detail work, and the skill to use high transfer paint equipment. Learning these skills in an automotive school gives you a better understanding of industry-standard methodology, and a degree officialises your education for your future employers. Of course, choosing to work as a car detailer and apprenticing as an automotive painter under an established technician is a great way to get hands-on training while being paid.

To be successful in automotive careers like car detailing you need to have passion for the work, have a basic education, and be willing to continue and improve upon the founding blocks of your education. Careers should be open to advancement, allowing you the freedom to grow and mature as an automotive-based technician. For more information, contact an automotive school near you today.
